Hello everyone! I’m Nancy Gagnon, and I’ve dedicated 20 years to practicing massage therapy and various wellness modalities. Throughout my journey, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with chiropractors in Nova Scotia, recognizing the powerful synergy between our disciplines. Now, after years of enriching experiences abroad, I’m thrilled at the opportunity to call Truro home and contribute to its vibrant community.

I’m eager to connect with new friends, welcome new clients and immerse myself in all that Truro has to offer. You can find me at Truro Chiropractic Clinic where I am committed to making your day fabulous and supporting your journey to optimal health and wellness.

Being interested in spirituality led me to pursue an education in energy healing. At the same time a new program of Massage Therapy was starting and it complimented my previous work.

After graduating in 2007, I began a career as an RMT, leaning toward Deep Tissue massage.

I have practiced in Iqaluit, Nunavut, working on and off for 17 years whilst also working as a Peace Officer.

I recently bought a home in Truro where I hope to bring my education and experience to the people, helping them find balance, and comfort.

My mother asked me “are you SURE?!” I had just told her that I was declining two medical school acceptances to enter chiropractic college.

I first saw a chiropractor for a knee injury when I did competitive gymnastics. I knew I wanted to work in the healthcare field, and I was good at using my hands to find people’s “tight spots.” Becoming a chiropractor has allowed me to work in the realms of health rather than sickness, and I’ve been able to put my sports background to good use.

My Chiropractic Journey My undergraduate years at McMaster were interspersed with exchanges to other countries, as the travel bug is bred into me (Australian father and English mother). Four years and four languages later, I entered the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. These were some of my happiest years in school — it’s amazing how quickly time passes when you really love what you’re learning. I graduated with honours in May 1993, and took over the long-time practice of Dr. Terrence Hanrahan later that year.

Goals My goal, and I think you’ll find we’ve achieved it, is to have an interactive office that makes you feel comfortable and is conducive to healing. I’ve tried and researched a lot of different therapies, and am quick to suggest alternatives that may help my patients and their families with a variety of health challenges.

My Family My family has always been very active. Soccer, rugby, tennis, beach volleyball, curling, cross country and downhill skiing are sports that we’ve participated in over the seasons. We enjoy the outdoors, especially being around water. One of my favourite things is to watch the herons fishing at dawn, having a new bird come to the birdfeeder, and walking my dog in Victoria Park.

It’s easy to put your health on the bottom of the “To-Do” list sometimes. That’s why I have a standing appointment to get adjusted each week right after my Rotary meeting. I workout twice a week, and try to get some outdoor exercise like walking or skiing as well. I sometimes get the comment “working with the public, you must get sick a lot.” I can’t remember the last time I was sick. If you listen to your body, and know what to do to support it, it will work amazingly well!

I consider myself an excellent listener, and I hope I get the opportunity to meet with you in person to discuss your specific health challenge. Contact our office today to get started!

Gordon Tees graduated as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr. TCM) from the International College of TCM (Victoria/Vancouver BC) in 1995. From 1998-2001 he was also an audit team member with the Private Post Secondary Commission of BC. He is currently a member in good standing with the Acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia. As required Gordon continues to maintain his knowledge and skill level by taking continuing education courses in Acupuncture. The World Health Organization mentions that there are a number of diseases, symptoms or conditions that have been; “proved-through controlled trials-to be an effective treatment”, as well as “Acupuncture can be regarded as the method of choice for treating many chronically painful conditions”. When coming in for a TCM/Acupuncture consultation or treatment you are going to be asked a lot of questions. These questions will be about what your ‘chief complaint’ is and the symptoms, but enquires will also be made about your overall health. It is important from a TCM perspective to understand as much about the individual’s whole health in order to formulate a treatment platform. We look for patterns in your health and need to differentiate what your particular condition is. No two individuals will exhibit the same symptoms. There will be some that are shared, but the individual being an individual, will develop symptoms systematic to their overall health. With this understanding a TCM/Acupuncture practitioner will be able to address not only the symptoms but equally important the ‘root’ of the condition. “Helping you, help yourself”
